Since its introduction in 1989, the Mazda MX-5 Miata has been beloved by drivers all over the world, and for 2020 this automotive icon continues to be the focused sports car we love. Its chassis is playful, its engine is eager to rev, and its standard manual transmission is a joy to use. Perhaps what's most enjoyable about the 2020 Miata is how analog it seems in the age of computer-controlled cars and SUVs. While it isn't a practical choice, it represents the best and most affordable four-wheeled thrill ride this side of a go-kart.
Mazda has given its signature sports car a smattering of small updates for 2020, including a new keyfob, updated badging font, and new interior and exterior colors. More important, the Miata receives Mazda's i-Activsense suite of driver-assistance features as standard; the package includes forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability is now standard on Club and Grand Touring models. The top-of-the-line Grand Touring trim inherits the sport suspension and limited-slip rear differential from the Club model. Mazda also celebrates its centennial this year with a 100th Anniversary Edition of the brand's beloved sports car. The 100th Anniversary Edition will be offered on Grand Touring models with either the standard soft-top or the optional power hard-top.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG: Ferari says fuel economy is TBD. We’ll update this story when those figures come in.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo: While there are two seats inside the F80's cabin, the best seat in the house is obviously reserved for the driver. From the small, flat-sided steering wheel to the relative lack of digital display screens, the F80 is set up to be a driver's car first and all else second. In fact, rather than calling the F80 a two-seater, Ferrari refers to it as a 1+ in its press materials. Underscoring the driver-centric design, the F80 features a bright red driver's seat, while the passenger's seat—which is not adjustable and is little more than padding affixed to the car's carbon-fiber tub—is covered in black upholstery, receding to the background in photos.

Infotainment and Connectivity: There's no infotainment display inside the F80's cabin, at least not in the traditional sense. A digital gauge cluster is the primary display for most everything inside the car and it's operated via steering wheel buttons. A secondary, smaller display on the center console exists merely for climate controls. We don't have all the details on the F80's connectivity features, but don't expect Wi-Fi, a voice assistant, or in-dash gaming features.

The Miata boasts a touchscreen infotainment system that is made better by an easy-to-reach control knob and hard buttons on the center console. Every Miata comes standard with Bluetooth connectivity (for both phone and streaming-audio functions), as well as a CD player. Navigation is standard on the Grand Touring and a dealer-installed accessory on Club models—added via a Mazda SD card. Also included is HD radio compatibility. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on both the Club and Grand Touring models.
